Teaching has been my passion for over 25 years, and I have been able to refine and personalize my methods throughout the years. 
I teach from basic French and German to University level. I can help your children be successful at their IB and AP tests. For adult classes, my goal is to increase your level of conversation skills and increase your confidence for trips in France and Germany or in French and German speaking countries. I can also teach a group of 3 to 5 adults if you are planning a trip together.

• We can start a class for 3 to 5 children of the same level of French or German. We will meet on a regular basis either at your home or another place we agree upon within the HHI/ Bluffton area. For an additional fee, we can also meet in Savannah or Beaufort.

• Fees: $120/hour/class for the 1st student, then $10 per person

SAT, AP, and IB French exams training

• The level required for SAT exams, as well as for the AP and IB French or German class is high. With us, your child will be able to rehearse and train her/ his skills before entering the answers to the quizzes, and the tests. She/ he will always get the highest grades in that class. The exams require a comprehensive knowledge in French or German grammar and vocabulary, which we will secure through many exercises, writing, and dictations.

• French conversation

  Learning to speak a foreign language in the States can be challenging when you cannot practice with a French native. During the class, not every student gets a chance to speak, or speaking in front of the class can be scary or simply uncomfortable. Enjoy the exclusivity of a 1 on 1 conversation, in a safe environment where you will be able to develop your confidence through interactive dialogues. You will discover some aspects of the French culture that you will never approach with your teacher, like the latest French music video or the funniest skit from French stand up comedians, what young French people of your age like to do or say, all the updates of what's in or out. You will be able to share that with your peers in your French class too!

How to have simple interchange with the locals

Planning a trip to France? You want to experience the French joie de vivre and its exquisite cuisine and wine culture but the language barrier is holding you back? Within 2 or 3 months, through a series of regular meetings, you will learn to recognize many typical French expressions that will help you to find your way, order food at restaurants, call a taxi, understand local customs. In the end, with your proactive French attitude, you will get French people to gladly help you and communicate with you, maybe even using some of their English with you!

Bring your French or German from school back to life

You took French or German in High School or at College and you want to reactivate your knowledge? Our brain is a wonderful tool. When stimulated, your brain will bring back those years of practice and learning. It will be much easier than you could ever imagine. In a friendly environment, you will rediscover the pleasure of coming up with French or German words and expressions that you thought you had forgotten for good. Let yourself be surprised! Casual meeting: We can decide to meet at your house or at various places that would inspire you.

Invite your friends for a French meal

You will learn to cook some basic French dishes while enjoying French wine. We will pick your menu together: crêpes, soupe à l'oignon, quiches, tarte tatin… with vegan, vegeterian, gluten free options

My Experience

As for my educational background, I have a Master in English/ German/ Business from the French University of Valenciennes in 1991. I lived in Germany for 6 months and in Austria for 3 years until 1995.

 In 1997, I got my Drama Bachelor Degree based on Movement, the Art of full awareness of the body and of Acting. That’s also during that period that I discovered Tai Chi.

 In 2002, I taught German in a postgraduate College in Lille, France for 2 years. Since 2017, I have been teaching German level 1, 2 and 3 privately to students on Hilton Head Island.

In France and in Brussels, between 1999 and 2008, I also taught Tai Chi and Drama. After I moved to HHI, I then started tutoring French to adults and children in 2009.

For 10 years until 2019, I taught online in collaboration with the French department of Collegiate High-school in Richmond, VA. I wrote dialogues and trained AP French classes for their specific AP conversation, with 100% success.

I have a range of different teaching experience among official institutions like the Hilton Head High School in 2010 as a long term sub, the University of South Carolina where I successfully taught a 10 week session of Beginner French for adults for Oscher Long Life Learning (OLLI), a program offered by the USC in 2015, and at the HHI Heritage Academy as the French teacher for middle-school and high-school students between 2015 and 2017.

In 2015, I was also working in collaboration with SmithStearn Tennis Academy of HHI for 4 years to help their athletes with their online French classes.

With my 11 year experience as a private tutor for home-schooled children, from Elementary school to High School, I am familiar with the Online Home-school programs (Connexus, Laurel Springs).

Private sessions in person per hour:

Individual: $70

Groups: $120 for the first person, then $10 per additional person

Private sessions online per hour:

The packages are to be paid before the first class and are non refundable. No time limit within the year 2023.

24 hour cancellation policy: If a class is canceled within less than 24 hours, it will be checked off the package.
